Baseball Commit Update – Lucas Sims

TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson verbal commitment Lucas Sims to see how preparations are going for his senior season.

“We have  tryouts on the 30th and our first game is on the 28th of February,” said Sims.

The top right-hander has been working out since November to lead Brookwood this spring.

“I have been doing conditioning since November.  I am doing the long toss program.  Three days a week I get on the football field and just let it loose,” said Sims.

What type of team will Brookwood have this season?

“I am excited.  I think we will make a deep run this year,” said Sims.

The Clemson staff keeps in touch with the Georgia standout.

“They just tell me to come up as much as possible and to stay in touch.  They tell me to stay in touch with the other commits and keep that circle going.  They are looking forward to getting me on campus,” said Sims.

Lucas could be in Clemson next weekend.

“I might be up for the basketball game next weekend,” said Sims.

Who are some of the other future Tigers that Lucas keeps in touch with?

“I keep in touch with Wales, Tyler, Rudy, Matt and Brody.  We are all getting pretty close.  We all call, text and tweet each other all the time,” replied Sims.

How does the prize recruit think the Tigers will do in 2012?

“It is going to be exciting.  Coach Leggett only has one goal and that is to win a national championship in Omaha.  Hopefully they will get one this year and four more when I get there,” said Sims.
